Mayor Dave Casebolt

Mayor Casebolt took office on July 1, 2012 after defeating former Mayor, Rusty Casto in the
June 5th election.  Rusty had been Mayor since 1996.  Dave's four-year term will run through
June 30, 2016.

As a Nitro City Councilman, Dave was able to involve numerous citizens in the decision making
process.  Working together, they developed long term planning to include a beautified business
district, improved schools, increased revenues, strengthened relationships, and improved
public safety. Many civic organizations committed to accomplishing these same goals.

Dave started the Bank Street Streetscape project his first week on council. He formed and
chaired the committee consisting of Leonard Womble, Donna Boggs, Jim Mckay, Rita Cox, A.J.
Hill, Danny Lewis, Bill Javins and Sandy Saunders. The project required numerous meetings
including public meetings to come up with the final Streetscape design. The grant was applied
for in the fall of 2008 and the money was allocated in the summer of 2011. The project has
beautified the business district and instilled a great sense of pride in many citizens. It has
created a safer and more enjoyable shopping experience and has already enticed new
investment. We have applied for Phase II that will encompass both sides of 21st from bank
Street to 2nd Avenue.

Mayor Casebolt is asking the citizens of Nitro to embrace THE NEW DIRECTION of the city and
to join him in making Nitro a community we are all proud of.

Dave is a 1975 graduate of Nitro High School, studied at Marshall University and has been an
active volunteer with Nitro Little League Baseball, Nitro Youth Football, Nitro Biddy Basketball,
the Nitro Mission Team and the Nitro Senior Advisory Board, among others.  Dave is a member
of the Nitro Church of Christ where he teaches a youth class.  He was a realtor at River Valley
Properties, LLC.  Dave is married with six children and 9 grandchildren.  In his spare time, Dave
enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting and bowling.
